Kyle Bernlohr, Co-Founder

Kyle Bernlohr currently serves as the Head Coach at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Now entering his fourth year, Bernlohr has led the program to two regional championships and guided Saint Ignatius back to the Division I State Championship game for the first time in eight years.

A decorated professional goalie, Bernlohr recently retired after a standout nine-year career—spanning three seasons with the Ohio Machine (MLL) and six with the Maryland Whipsnakes (PLL). During his professional tenure, he claimed three championships, was selected as a six-time All-Star, and was named the 2022 PLL Goalie of the Year.

An Akron, Ohio native, Bernlohr played collegiately at the University of Maryland, where he was a two-time All-American and the 2015 NCAA Goalie of the Year.

Before taking the helm at Saint Ignatius, Bernlohr spent four years coaching Division I lacrosse at Bellarmine University and Cleveland State University. He also spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Western Reserve Academy, where he was the MSLA Assistant COY in 2022. He is also the founder of the Kyle Bernlohr Goalie Academy, which provides year-round training to goalies of all ages and skill levels throughout the Midwest.

Paul Corto, Co-Founder

Paul Corto is the Co-Founder of the Midwest Lacrosse Showcase. He is currently the Founder & Managing Partner at Spiders Lacrosse Club, an Assistant Coach at St. Ignatius High School, and the Head Coach of the New Balance All-American Midwest Team.

Previously, Paul coached at Chagrin Falls High School Boys Lacrosse from 2010 to 2022, serving as Varsity Head Coach, Varsity Assistant, and Middle School Coach. During his tenure, the team reached 10 straight Regional Finals, 6 Semi-Finals, 5 State Finals, and won 2 State Championships in 2015 and 2019. They were also State Runner-Up in 2014, 2021, and 2022. He also served as an Assistant Coach with Western Reserve Academy in 2023-24.

Paul's honors and recognitions include OHSAA Region Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2022, News-Herald Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2021, and US Lacrosse Assistant Coach of the Year in 2013.

He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1997 and Loyola Blakefield in 1993.

Joe Rautenstrauch, Tournament Director

Joe Rautenstrauch '23G enters his 10th season as the head coach of the John Carroll Men's Lacrosse program in the 2025-2026 school year.

In his first nine seasons as head coach, Rautenstrauch led the Blue Streaks to a combined 108-39 (58-11 OAC) record, earning seven OAC Tournament Championships and seven automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament. 

Rautenstrauch in the only coach in program history to earn a win during the NCAA Tournament. The first victory came when the Blue Streaks defeated Albion College 14-9 in 2017. A second victory followed 2019 when John Carroll won in overtime against Hope College (7-6). Rautenstrauch's 2022 Blue Streaks won the first-ever NCAA Tournament game played in Greater Cleveland, beating North Central at Don Shula Stadium. The 2023 Blue Streaks won again at home in the NCAA Tournament, defeating Lake Forest (23-2). 

Rautenstrauch came to John Carroll from his alma mater, Canisius College. A four-year letter winner for the Griffs, he helped lead Canisius to the MAAC championship during his junior campaign. Post graduation, he was promoted to an assistant coaching role, where he focused on working with the faceoff units and the goaltenders. He also served as the defensive coordinator in 2016. In addition to coaching, Rautenstrauch spent one academic year as an adjunct professor at Canisius.

Rautenstrauch earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Canisius in 2013. He then went on to obtain a Master's in Sports Administration at his alma mater the following year, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors. Raut earned his MBA from John Carroll in 2023. 

Janelle Ranieri, Chief Administrative Officer

Janelle Ranieri has served as the Chief Administrative Officer for Spiders Lacrosse for the past three years. As the mother of a three-sport athlete, she is adept at answering parents' questions and previously spent four years as the chief statistician for Chagrin Falls Lacrosse. Her son, John, won a State Championship (2019) and State Runner-Up title (2021). Prior to joining Spiders Lacrosse, Janelle held various roles in Marketing. She graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1991 and holds an MBA from Georgetown University.
